NO MORE ADS!!
Sep 9 2009, 8:25 PM EDT
Wetpaint has turned into one huge advertisement! I can't even see my wiki page for all the ads...they are professionally done, and are too distracting. I am a teacher and use this as a class page...since I don't make any money from this and there's no budget for me to spend $20 a month indefinitely to keep ads off, I have no choice but to move to pbworks. PLEASE reconsider reinstating the ad-free education wiki component! 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I'm sorry to see you go, but know that there were good reasons for discontinuing the ad free education sites program.http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/ad+free+education+sites 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

No one is forcing you to pay? In other words no one is bullying you or pressuring you into paying. The fact is if you want the ads removed then you would have to pay, there is no alternative. Although the Ad Free Educational Program was well loved and very popular, it simply became to popular for it to continue. Think of it this way if 1,000 sites apply in a week, likely maybe only half of those even qualify for the program. The funds for a site to have ads removed is $19.95. So multiply the number of sites that would qualify (500) times the cost to remove ads ($19.95) that is nearly $10,000. Any way you look at it, that is a lot of money! Wetpaint even had to lay-off a number of hard workers. So before you start blaming Wetpaint, you should remember what they had to do to even provide the program in the first place.

I totally agree with everything you say. I too am in education and the ads are just too distracting and renders Wetpaint completely unusable in education. Goodbye Wetpaint.
