Deleting a whole class of students

I started my wetpaint site last year with a group of students. Is there an easy way to delete them all in one go so a new class can use the site? 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

No, there is no way to ban all of them at one time. You will have to go to each students profile and manually ban them. It takes a ton of work, but still, this is the only way to ban multiple people, one by one. Remember, to ban someone, you need to go to their profile, select change permissions, and hit "Banned." This will remove them from interacting with the site using that account. Do you find this valuable?

Just out of curiosity, how many students are we talking about here?

As with PB works, I'd like to "remove" a user, as oppose to banning them...there is a difference in these actions and as I'm a teacher, I'd like to continue to use the same shell as my class changes every 8 weeks. Can Wetpaint change this functionality? Do you find this valuable?

You can not "remove" a user without banning them.

On the other hand, please do not bump old threads.
Rule 11# of WPC rules:

Can a mod delete or lock this thread?

The easiest way for an educator to remove users is to make it part of the final grade, for all of the students to cancel their memberships before the class ends. This way your next class will have only those members that have joined after class has begun.

I am interested in this as well. As I have multiple Wetpaint sites I use for teaching.

Does a "ban" then stop that user from joining other Wetpaint sites? Does cancelling membership apply only to being a member of a particular site or of Wetpaint>

If you 'ban' someone, it only bans them from your site. It does not ban them from other wetpaint sites as well. And cancelling a membership, only refers to the site they are cancelling their membership from.

Thank you for the very quick answer.

I am glad it will not prevent the students from participating in other sites. Especially that are run for other classes.

Does the "banned" list that is mentioned elsewhere then apply just to a site as well? Or is that applicable to whole Wetpaint?

No, if you ban someone, it will only show up as banned on your list. Does this answer your question? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
