Someone didn't think....
Sep 3 2009, 9:47 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 3 2009, 9:47 PM EDT
The obscenity filter obviously considers the former Vice President of the United States of America to be an obscenity. **** Cheney is not very helpful in a serious conversation. And also insulting to another member whose husband has the same first name. Suddenly talking about her husband becomes an obscene occupation.

A little thought would have been good.

There is an old saying....more haste, less speed. The obscenity filter proves that old adage.

This issue has been addressed multiple times. Wetpaint is currently looking for a way to make this feature optional, so creators and admin can turn it on and off. If they can not the feature will be dropped completely.

Sorry to bump this; the other thread linked here is locked.

Is there any update on this? Has the filter been improved any? I am still getting words that are not swear words filtered out.

No, there hasn't. It's still on, and no way to turn it off, still.

Shoot :/ I really like the wetpaint wiki format, but everyones requesting moving to a different wiki site because of the mis-filtering. :/
I was really hoping there'd be an update on it by now. >_< I'm holding out cause I have faith in wetpaint but....!

Don't worry accela, the Wetpaint Crew is on it right now. The emphasis on this issue by the reg users has not gone un-noticed, and while I am not a superpainter myself, I can assure you that they are working as hard as they can to make Wetpaint enjoyable and convenient for everyone.
