I believe the Wetpaint account has the ability to ban anyone or promote anyone. However if the creator did not cancel their membership before leaving the site, I don't feel that would give you the right to demote them.

"I believe the Wetpaint account has the ability to ban anyone"You are correct. However, wetpaint does not have the ability to restore the creator role to anyone. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well you could perhaps working something out with them. However it is their site, so technically if they want to shut it down they have all right to do so.

what if the creator created the site, left after a week, but managed to create an admin, the admin created the site from the ground up for two years without a single word or action by the creator. Can the creator come back and take over what isnt the rightful ownership seeings that they didnt do a thing for two years? Can the owner be simply demoted by the wetpaint admins because of the fact that he has been inactive since a week after the site was created 2 years ago? I see it unfair for someone to be able to come back after 2 years of unactivity and take control of a place that he didnt create.

so what will that do? will it ensure that the creator doesnt just come back and screw around with a site that he didnt create? Its pretty much property abandonment. Therefore its not that persons property anymore.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that with websites, Wolfy.

well you guys have the power to do it, how would you feel if the site you worked on for two years can be just taken from you by a person that didnt contribute a dang thing? You're basically telling me to cross my fingers and hope that the creator doesnt come back..

They probably won't "screw around" with (what is now) YOUR wiki, if they do, they probably aren't old enough for Wetpaint lol. So really you won't need to worry :P 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Justin is right. Also, I go around Wetpaint adopting wikis. I have about four wikis that could be taken away from me at any time. I know what it's like.

I'm sorry Wolfy, but there's nothing we can do about the creator. It's not in our power, and according to the Wetpaint Terms of Service, they don't demote creators as they created the website, and they can run it whenever they like unless they Cancel their membership and lose the status.

I would've told them off, the reason I'm not is because Jeremy told me that it's better to do relevant forum necromancy than post a new thread, which just clutters up the forum. If you have a problem, take it up with him.

Clay, the thread has been answered. There's no need for irrelevant posts. You should know better than that, you are a moderator, and you have been a moderator here for a long time.

"Clay, the thread has been answered. There's no need for irrelevant posts. You posted the comment that Wetpaint does demote Creators, so I posted saying that wasn't completely true. How is my reply NOT relevant to what you posted? and Yes, I know the rules Cameron, you don't have to remind me. Do you find this valuable? |
