New member sign in form
Aug 28 2009, 4:39 PM EDT
There should be a notice in sign in form reminding new users to create their own wetpaint.sites. At present I do not approve any new member to my educational site and ban them. I believe, many new member did not want to be a member to specifically to my site but to www.wetpaint.com site; they probably were trying to create their site but ended up being a member to my site. They never answered to my e-mails.

Membership process should be private or banned member usernames should be private/not visible without signing in. I do not create/work on sites to list banned member names.

You can make your site private. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/private+sites Anonymous people and registered users can't see the banned members list. Only you and your moderators can view it. Do you find this valuable? |

I can see where it can be frustrating to deal with persons thinking your site was Wetpaint and that is where they needed to be, to create an account with Wetpaint. It would take constant vigilance to maintain the proper membership for that wiki. Do you find this valuable? |

To make it clear that my site is not Wetpaint, my present New Member Message says ''Thank you for visiting my site. As the creator of the site I regret to inform that any new membership to my site is no longer available and applications or new member profiles are subject to removal by me. To prevent possible misunderstandings, I would strongly remind you that http://www.wetpaint.com community membership that gives the opportunity to create your own free site is different from my site and requires visiting their related site(http://www.wetpaint.com), home page.

"Unfortunately there is a bug or technical problem that makes banned members visible to anonymous people or Google Search Engine Index. "This isn't a bug, it's always like this. However, registered and anonymous users of your site cannot view the full list of banned members. For example, when I go to this link to the WPC banned member page: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/accountSearch/banned I see the banned members page. When you click on it, you can't see it. What's wrong with making your site private? Whenever you need a new student to join, you can invite them. Do you find this valuable? |

"This isn't a bug, it's always like this. "2 years ago you were right, banned members were not visible to anonymous users; however, at present a new module link from my Profile (Compliments module) points, reveals a banned member to anonymous users. When clicked on Members module, banned members fortunately are not visible to anyone as you described. Wetpaint Search Engine does not index banned member profiles; but, banned members are indexed by Google Search Engine. Do you find this valuable? |

Wetpaint technical feature allows members sharing the same site within a hierarchy together with the creator. For many other Internet sites to be a member=creator and no other member options (moderator, writer, registered user) are available. I believe many Wetpaint member applicants are not well informed about membership options (1.Creator Membership 2. Non creator Membership). Do you find this valuable? |

If you change your sites permissions to private, no new members are allowed to join, and people won't be able to view any banned member profile unless they are already a member. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/private+sites Do you find this valuable? |

When you click on it, you can't see it.Same is for my site, Wetpaint Search Engine index is working fine and doesn't crawl banned members. However, banned member profiles don't have 'no follow' tag to prevent Google Search Engine from indexing them. As a member, 'CryingDove', explained last week that the banned members visibility problem requires "custom CSS and Java Scripting" design by Wetpaint. Do you find this valuable? |

If your site is private, then you don't have to worry about google seeing your banned members. This is what happens when you try to view any page, including the profile of a banned member, on a site that is private: http://www.wikisandbox.com/Answer this question: IS your site private or not? "IS your site private or not?"Everyone is invited to view my site without any sign in requirements and I will not change it by marking my this specific site 'private'. Thank you 'Hadye' for reminding me 'private' option; however, making it private site is not a solution to my problem or intention. Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 29 2009, 12:17 PM EDT
Meanwhile when I visited your site I noticed that although http://www.wikisandbox.com/page/test+333 has been deleted, at present it is still indexed by Google Search Engine. When a page is deleted it should be deleted from Google Search Engine Index too. This issue is a different problem from my public site. Thank you for writing your site URL that helped me to mention about my another problem.

19. RE: Is ''Site Meter'' is a way to join a site
Aug 29 2009, 12:53 PM EDT
The ''Site Meter'' feature of Wetpaint is a very good way for visitors to tell that they visited my site. Site meter does not reveal all the information about my visitors. However, without spending any time on signing in forms, only by visiting my site, they automatically connect some identity information to my site.
