Why can't mods and Admins edit posts?
If, for example, someone posted something worth reading, but added something bad, the only option is to delete the post.

I'd rather just edit out the bad part instead of forcing the user to edit or repost it.

Some mods/admins may be a bit silly and decide to completely change what the user has said and maybe even make the user look bad.

What should be added is a list of words that will automatically be blurred / starred (*) out. Mods/Admins should have the ability to edit and add to this list and it should be placed under the "Settings" area.

In every single forum I know of, mods/admins have the power to edit the posts of users for inappropriate stuff.
I think we should have the same abilities here, the forums here are not much different than other sites.

Also, If mods/admins are making bad edits, then they aren't good mods/admins, now are they?
M/A should only be people that will do their job correctly.

Though if that is just something that will never be added for some reason, the suggestion stated above would come in handy as well.

I would like to address this with two answers, because there are two points being made.

1. Creator, Admins, and mods are given the abilility to delete threads and replies. They carry the responsibility to provide only appropriate content to be allowed in threads. A good creator, admin or mod will follow-up with a message to the poster explaining why their post was deleted and give them an opportunity to repost without the trash. If they choose not to repost, that is their decision whether there be valuable information included in the post or not. To alter another's statements by removing certain words or phrases is not ethical and could be abused.

2. Creators, Admins and Mods editing the word or phrase filtering dictionary is not available possibly for some very good reasons. I couldn't even imagine a 13 year old wiki creator, viewing the contents of the filtered words, let alone adding to them. Heck, I am a senior adult, and I dread even going to the filters and adding more content to them, on some chat rooms and forums to which I moderate. YUK.

A different point of view to some great suggestions.
