A little something that might help contests
Aug 22 2009, 7:10 PM EDT
You know how on the members page it tells how many threads and edits a user had made total? well how about adding how many threads they made that month? This could help with things like member of the month, by who was most active that month.
Do you find this valuable?

Yeah, nice idea. I kinda like it. But you can do that already, I know a trick, but you can only do this in a small site with little members. Go to the person's profile> click on Contributions> click on Threads and you can see how many thread contributions they made that month.

I have quite the similar idea. It focuses on where you get the opportunity to show off your wiki editing powers and creativity by creating, expanding, or revising content for your community. There are two types of entries you can make:1. Original Content: Its all up to your members. They can design a new page with fresh content, pics, videos, and more! They can create new pages or add extensively to existing pages. Be sure that the content they select doesn't already appear on that particular wiki 2. Revised Content: Here's an opportunity to revise content that's already on the wiki. Do you see a section that's plagued with grammatical errors or perhaps a section that's overly wordy? Is there a section where the formatting doesn't match the formatting in similar sections? For these pages, feel free to let them edit or reformat. The contestants will be based on: * Extent: The winning entry will be an extensive contribution to the content on the community. While single-page entries will be considered, the total number of QUALITY pages submitted will be reflected in the scoring. Your final score in this category will be based on all of the pages you submit. * Writing/Editing: The winning entry will be free from grammatical, word choice, and spelling errors. The overall structure of the writing will be logically organized. * Design: The winning entry will closely follow the formatting guidelines outlined possible on the site. It will be consistent with the formatting of other pages in the same section. Extra consideration will be given to entries who create innovative designs while maintaining the overall formatting template of the wiki. * Significance: The winning entry will be a significant contribution to the community. Original work will be scored higher than work that simply collects information from the web and pulls it into the page. More to come... Do you find this valuable? |

continued.........Also, create a suggestion section, where members can get ideas from. These should have links to the pages, and what can be done to fix, revise, and edit. Of course, if they are creating a page, then let that be original. You may also want to implement an "extra" section where you tell of a couple of hints or examples. You may also want to include: * A link to key Wetpaint Central pages to help them organize and design (such as this http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Build+Better+Content) * Tell them to contact a moderator when finished so their page can be locked to avoid vandalizam. * ABSOLUTELY no vandalism may be done to another competitors page. * Plagiarized content will not be considered. Use other websites as resources, but add your own interpretation and style to the content. * As always, tell them, a moderator can help guide you, such as giving you an idea of inspiration or help you come up with a content area that needs attention. If you need any clearification on this idea for a contest, e-mail me. --Josh Do you find this valuable? |
