Who is the most Popular

December 01, 2005, Wetpaint was the name Wikisphere decided to take as it's new official title. Wikisphere was a wiki host that did solely custom work. In March of 2006, Wetpaint decided to test market the idea of free wiki hosting. In June, 2006, Wetpaint became a free wiki host to all. Some of the first sites to take use of Wetpaint are still here today. Xbox360 and EMGN Gaming. As word got around about Wetpaint, there became a need to have a help site. So in Sep 2006 Heidianna created Wetpaint Central. In Oct 2006, the first of many threads requesting or discussing the use of HTML on Wetpaint pages began. There are 665 threads regarding HTML on wetpaint today. Oct 12, 2006 http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/thread/349840/html Oct 9, 2006 http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/thread/347260/backgrounds%2C+music%2C+and+html+codes So I guess HTML on Wetpaint is the most popular request and the longest running one too! I got that from my <head> and <body> So </head> </body> and </html> Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks for letting me know this. I knew about Heidianna and the HTML editing, but I never knew about the beginning of Wetpaint. Also, in the beginning, wetpaint central was called "The Moderator Lounge", but later adopted the name "Wetpaint Central" when threads about problems, new features, and other things started popping up.

I've been apart of Brickiwiki for a while, which was one of the first ones created back in Spring 2006. And to see at the updates wetpaint has made since the years, they've really been excellent features.

BrandonE brought up another wiki that has been around a long time like the others. They are the founding fathers of Wetpaint wikis. Thanks BrandonE. And thanks BrickiWiki for being successful for the past 3 years. Do you find this valuable? |

Another wiki that has been here for the past 3 years and was one of the first wikis created was wikiDemocrat, wikiGOP, wikiFido, and wikiSandbox. There are many more, and most of them start with the name wiki_____ or ____wiki. These were the test sites before wetpaint allowed people to create their own sites. Back then, you could only join sites Wetpaint created, not make your own sites. However, soon after the test wikis worked, wetpaint opened up so everyone could create their own wiki.

wikiFido was the original wiki on the Wetpaint network. That was Wetpaint's original testing wiki...As for the Wetpaint Central thing, it is a combination of two different wikis that got combined. I was actually just beginning to help out around here when that merge happened, there was a lot of material (content) that had to move! Do you find this valuable? |
