Ads...
Aug 12 2009, 2:11 PM EDT | Post edited: Aug 12 2009, 2:11 PM EDT
The one ad that sticks between the quick links bar (or whatever the bar with a link to updates, members etc. is called) is driving me NUTS! Can't it be moved to the top or the side or even the bottom?! It makes the site look crazy bad and I hate it. I don't mind the ads on the top/bottom/side but this one is too much!

It disappears after a while but it takes a looong time. -_-

As stated by Jeremy_wetpaint in another thread.

"This is the new location for the ads that previously were stuck above the header. This new layout is more integrated with the site so the ads don't look like they were just tacked on. It will disappear after a short time."

wut creeps me out and drives me nuts at the same time is that some ads actually TALK to me. seriously, there isnt anything weirder than a random ad talking to u about something u dont need. i have a better suggestion: cant wetpaint take out the ads altogether? Do you find this valuable?

It is the advertisements on Websites that give Wetpaint the finding to run free, as it does today. Would you rather a few ads on your website, or no site at all? I do have to agree, however, that the talking ads are annoying. Do you find this valuable?

I think there is some way of deleting ads on your site, but it is in the settings, so you have to be a mod. or up.

Yes the talking ads are really annoying. I wouldn't mind them so much if they didn't have to talk. Do you find this valuable?

Here is a page on information for removing ads.

Well... what do you expect? The ads that allow you to have a free site be removed for free? Still $20 a month is a lot of money just to have ads taken down. Do you find this valuable?

You are right about that. Well at least you have the option to remove the ads.

Yes, the option to remove them is nice, it isn't too necessary to remove them, unless you run an education site, or you dislike ads. Most people do though. Do you find this valuable?

I agree completely. This Fandex ad placement is very intrusive and destroys the integrity of our pages. We have a lot of communities if practice on wetpaint, including some paid ones and really like it but if this continues, we will likely have to reconsider.

Please remove them.

Please clarify what you mean about the Fandex ad "disappearing after a short time". It has not disappeared throughout several visits to several WP wikis.

And, the ad is glaring and in the face of all our visitors, it really distorts the look of our wikis. Please remove it.

Having ads is fine. That is what we all agreed to. But this new ad placement is distorting the look and feel of the entire page, making the ad the central feature of every page.

That is not the look and feel that brought me and millions of others to the WP platform.

It needs to be removed.

The original placement of the ads O(ie at the side and bottom of the page was fine. This placement, and its huge size, makes it the central part of every page.

It really chnages the look and feel and makes it lok like we are all working for Wetpaint

I understand that Wetpaint needs to make money, however, I would prefer the ads back on top of the page, rather than in the middle of the navigation bar and the top of the page. This new way can get in the way, and it kind of makes the site look unappealing. I understand wetpaint needs to make money, but I would like to see the ads either on the top of the page or on the bottom of the pages. This would make sites look more appealing. The ads need to be anywhere but there. Bottom. Left. Top. Doesn't matter, the new placement makes it look completely unappealing. Do you find this valuable?

I think so 2! I understand that they need money but having under the nav bar is really unorganized! Do you find this valuable?
