Off Topic Threads

Has anyone defined what is an exceptable Off-Topic thread is. The only thing that I have come upon is the description "Discussions not related to the topic of this site." So if there are no instructions or definitions, why are threads being locked.

There are certain taboo topics that invite controversy and should be avoided. But there is nothing that has been laid out with regards to the category. More details should be made available before locking or deleting threads here unless the violate the terms of service of WP

I know it is not the best in wetpaint but it has its ups and downs Do you find this valuable?

Another thing. If I were to change the course of this thread to say...What do your think about Planet X that is supposed to arrive near us in 2012. Would that be getting off topic in an off topic thread?

Threads should be about Wetpaint, but more about your site or your opinion. Very off topic threads shouldn't be added. Do you find this valuable?

This site is about Wetpaint and Help with Wetpaint Wikis. So, this category is for topics not related to topics about Wetpaint or Wetpaint Central. And the questions that are here in this thread have yet to be clarified.

Just wondering, why some threads are locked in this category It doesn't make any sense to me.

Threads in this category generally are supposed to relate to Wetpaint in some way, shape, or form. I would just delete a thread about someone's new bed or a story about the dog running away. I wouldn't delete a thread about how the Golden Paint Can Awards are awesome or how why so and so prefers Wetpaint over another host. Do you find this valuable?

It has been four months since this thread started and the question still has not be addressed. There have been some great replies, but the mystery still remains. What are considered "discussions NOT RELATED to the topic of this site"..... scratches head in bewilderment Do you find this valuable?

I've seen a couple moderators classify a thread bump as Forum Necromancy. Whats the fine line on that one? Or even, sometimes it can be classified as "posting irrelevant comments".

CaptainSpaz did a wonderful, beautiful job on the Rules. There just are a few holes that need to patched. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I agree. I think the rules are great but the description of an "Off-Topic" area is: Not Related To the Site. So there needs to be a definant rule change or the discription needs to be changed. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
