Money on Wetpaint
Aug 8 2009, 8:48 PM EDT
Is there anyway that upgrading in Wetpaint that the site can bring in money to the owner of the site. A lot of work can go into a wetpaint site if it is maintained and kept updated. We like wetpaint but are considering an upgrade, but debating on the issue of why spend money if no money can be earned to make the site pay for itself.

There is no way to make money off the upgrades. If you are thinking about removing ads, you would need to pay the money because the ads are the main source of payment that allow you to have your site. Of course you could make money through your own methods, like selling items on your wiki. Of course it would be rather difficult to sell items on a Wetpaint wiki.

Certain prime realty on a page will be paid more if the site is clicked. The revenue of your selected ads on your site would have to offset the cost of having an upgraded no ad wiki. Offering a product or a service to create revenue, may require the use of a check out cart, some client payment option such as Paypal and a host of other specialized configurations. That would require a type of Java Scripting which Wetpaint does not support at this time. Since Wetpaint uses Google Ad-sense for gathering revenue from the free wikls, it is against the terms of service of Google to have more than one Ad-sense account per website. So using them would force you to upgrade. Putting other than Google ads on your wiki is no problem. Offering services and products on your wiki is no problem as long as the target market does not violate the terms of service of Wetpaint. Please browse through the business caterory of Wetpaint. At the bottom of the page click on "see all" for the entire list of business wikis. This may give you some idea on how some Wetpaint Wikis are set up in the business arena. http://www.wetpaint.com/category/Business Do you find this valuable? |
