We want to REMOVE members, not ban them!
Jul 9 2009, 7:03 PM EDT
There really needs to be a member removal option (and being able to select multiple users at a time for this). So many wikis are setup for educational purposes and teachers need to be able to remove past students without having to ban them, or ask them to remove themselves. Please add this to the next update!

What do you envision would be the difference between removing and banning?

As Jason said there is not much differnce between the two, just message them, asking them to remove themselves, or what's so bad about banning them anyway?

Yes, like CoolAs100 said, you can ask themselves to cancel their membership.See: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Cancel+Membership Do you find this valuable? |

But if a moderator or Admin wants to remove someone who is disruptive, he or she should not have to "ask" the person to "voluntarily" remove him or herself. That’s actually kind of silly. If I extend an invite to my site, I should be able to revoke that invite at any time.

If someone is disruptive, you can ban them.

I totally understand what people are asking for. I want to delete a member, not ban them. Do banned members still get the updates to the Wiki? If not, then banning is okay for me. I just want them gone off the site. Don't want to see their beadie eyed icon anymore. lol Also, what happens when they get banned? Do they get an email saying they've been banned? Banning usually means they did something wrong and was kicked out. Okay, that'll work. But, that's not always appropriate.

They can still get on the site, and create a new account. But they can't sign in with the same username you banned. On the other hand, please do not bump old threads. Do you find this valuable? |
