"I have a site for a middle school chess club, and some members are younger than thirteen. is this a problem? is there an age limit that prevents them from becoming a member on the site for their club?"Yes there is you MUST be 13 years of age! Even when the moderator is an adult, I can't let anyone under the age of 13 in? And why that age? What happens when this law gets broken? Or maybe it's unenforceable? Do you find this valuable? |

This precaution helps to prevent children under the age of 13 from registering for Wetpaint. Children under 13 are not allowed to join Wetpaint due to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) laws, which we must comply with. Google Coppa laws to read for yourself.

It is part of the terms of use. And it can be enforced by Wetpaint. They can take down your wikis and not allow you the responsible adult to create another by banning you from their service. I know that there are many sub-teens out there that would love to participate, but unfortunately they cannot.

I looked for something about age restrictions but couldn't find it here either inthe privacy section or the FAQs or anywhere that looked like it might address it. I didn't even see a TOS! It might be a good idea to feature this a bit more prominently. I will abide by them, I just wanted to know what prevented it. Do you find this valuable? |
