Private Pages.

A customizable permission system would indeed provide the most flexibility. It would also be a nightmare to design and implement. Do you know that there's now almost 400 distinct actions that a Wetpaint user can take? ( quote from wetpaint a long time ago as a response to private pages ). I believe that posture still remains today. It is an enormous task to code and put into action. Far more than you can ever imagine. So as a user of the free wetpaint program, I have come to except that this requested feature will not be seen for a long while, if at all. In having a knack for creating work-a-rounds for vacant features on my wish list, I developed the second (private) site concept to hide content from the general public and only provide it to invited users. It is clunky, but works. Then recently I ran into a problematic table, that I just could not get all of the content to display no matter what I did with the exception of when I easyedited the page, all the content would show as expected. This table maintains its characteristics no matter where I put it. The unusual traits of this table hold steadfast, with Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Firefox 3.0 and the newly released 3.5, and other browsers not supported by Wetpaint but can be used by users, such as Flock, Enigma, Ubuntu and others. I fooled around with this table for days. Then I came to the realization "What I have here was a vehicle to hide information from view." I could lock the page where the table resides and only monitors and above could edit the page and see all of the content of the table. I have put images, tables, and gifs in this table and they are hidden from view on the page. Only text that I want to be seen will be seen. Now the only problem I face right now, is how do I get this table to those that want it. I can't advertise my site on wetpaint central and will not do so because they have requested to only advertise on wpads. Any suggestions as what to do?

I am trying to understand this. 1) Sorry for the wait. 2) Are you trying to advertise a "work arond" for this problem you are having? 3) I am an Admin for WCA. And I would be morethan happy to setup a new section for Wetpaint users trying to show designs for homepages and tutorials for "work arounds". Send me a private message and we will get this taken care of. - Andrew Do you find this valuable? |

I already have a site that showcases work-arounds. Thanks for the offer though.

But you said "Now the only problem I face right now, is how do I get this table to those that want it. I can't advertise my site on wetpaint central and will not do so because they have requested to only advertise on wpads. Any suggestions as what to do?". I was saying, I am sure WCA won't mind doing it!

The table is a mutant table, that was captured from a bug I was working on. It is not something you can create with a set of instructions. It is that special table, that should not exist, but does. The only way to use it is to get of copy from the original or its offspring. Members would have to have the ability to edit the page where the table resides and copy and paste that table to their wiki. That would eliminate WPC from being the host for the table. I hope that allows for a better understanding into the situation of this table. But again thanks for the offer.
