Inability to "sign in" and become a member.

First, I created a new wikiweb, then invited friends. They could not not join since they had no user ID registered with Wetpaint. I read that the friend had to create a membership by using Sign Up (actually Sign In) So I entered an ID and password and was directed to register. I clicked on "register" and got a registration screen. I created a virtual member, "earthenergyworld" for my new wetpaint site, http://earthenergyworld.wetpaint.com. I entered the new password twice, submitted and got this error message:

"The member profile for does not exist on this site. Please check the username and try again or go to the site members report and try locating the member there." the URL: http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/account/

Please explain how I can register my virtual member for the first time, when the system rejects all attempts to register new members because the new member has not already registered? Also, why use this really dumb route to register new members. Please create a button "REGISTER AS A NEW MEMBER" or some such label on your homepage. Then please allow the new member to register without getting the really dumb message that no such registration already exists.

Sorry you had trouble, Jim.

It appears that the earthenenergyworld user was created here on Wetpaint Central, but not joined to your site.
Try this:
1. Log out of Wetpaint.
2. Go to your site.
3. Click the Sign in to Wetpaint link in the top right.
4. Sign in with the earthenenergyworld user name and password.
5. Join the site you created.

Please let me know if that works for you.

I COMPLETELY agree! My users are older and somewhat computer illiterate and sometimes I need to create user names for them. I am pulling my hair out right now, trying to figure out how to get them a new user name and connected to the private site! This problem and the fact that lots of the people I invite NEVER get the invitation email (not in Spam either!) is making this whole thing very frustrating. Do you find this valuable?
