Watches not working
Apr 27 2009, 4:49 PM EDT
Watches don't appear to be working for at least 2 of us on a private wiki. Have tried un-watching and resetting the watch, have checked the settings in my profile, but still don't see emails. Haven't seen others complain so assume it is just me, but not sure where else to check.Help/pointers appreciated Do you find this valuable? |

What browser are you using? Also, try clearing your cookies and cache and try again. Also, it could be a wetpaint server problem. Do you find this valuable? |

Well, not sure it will answer your question, but e-mails are only sent when someone other than you edits the watched page/thread.

Now i have a question for you: When someone posts on a watched thread, do you get an email for that?

Original poster - can you tell me the domain of your email address? It could be that Wetpaint is having email delivery problems at your ISP. We have had spotty delivery at Yahoo recently, particularly for thread reply alerts and page watchlist alerts. Clearing your cookies and cache on your browser shouldn't have any impact. It is true, however, that if you were the one to make the edit/post you should not get a notification. Additionally if multiple page edits or posts happen within the space of an hour, you should only get one email notification. You can PM me if you'd rather not post your email domain publicly. KimberlyB: She/he is correct! Wetpaint has been experiencing problems with email providers. I suggest you create a quick new email on http://www.gmail.com/

Started working late last night. Don't know what was wrong or what fixed - but I've gotten a few updates now. Hopefully it will continue to work - thanks again for the help.

Thanks for reporting back e_2. Can you clarify - are you alerts arriving in your Yahoo inbox or did you switch to gmail?

Hi - I'm a Deadliest Catch Wiki user.. and for some reason, if I post here - even though I log in - it makes me "anonymous".. Ugh... another glitch/problemFor the past week or more, I have not been receiving my email alerts like I should! I'm with AOL, but many of my Deadliest Catch Wiki friends are also experiencing this annoyance. We've all enjoyed posting in a timely manner back and forth, but now, without the alerts, we find we are desparately trying to play "catch up" - and missing out.. This actually began after I was posting with some buddies one night over Memorial Day weekend and the system went down for an hour or so for "maintenance". Since then, my alerts have been sporadic at best. My profile settings are checked as "watched" and email notification is active. We are all getting frustrated and it's beginning to take away the joy of participating on this site. Please help us!!! Do you find this valuable? |

Ugh... another glitch/problemCan you send me a private message that includes your email address? If I have your email address I can verify what email messages we have sent to you and when. If you are unable to sign in and send me a private message you can also email Wetpaint at info@wetpaint.com and I will get your message there. Do you find this valuable? |

I am running several Wikis with multiple different members none of home appear to be reliably getting email notifications of changes. As a test I put a test message in an page known to be watched by a third party - he was never notified. I have gotten some but not all notifications of changes to pages by third party members of my Wiki's. Is email notification of changes to watched pages/threads broken?Do you find this valuable? |
