Please Add a Delete Gallery Photos Feature
Apr 9 2009, 9:17 AM EDT | Post edited: Apr 9 2009, 9:17 AM EDT
If you really want to improve the features greatly; add a delete pictures for the personal galleries. I and others on the WIKI have galleries that we would like to clean up. The big photo sites flickr, photo bucket, face book, my space allow the user to delete personal pictures. Wet Paint is set up so that any time a personal photo is posted it becomes the sole property of the WIKI. Fellows; this just is not right. A person joins a WIKI not to have personal property taken. I am talking about my family photos, my wife, my children, my grandchildren. I have learned the hard way that posting pictures to share with friends becomes permanent. I am not some over the top kook but have helped build at great site. Please do not tell me only the moderator can remove my family pictures from my albums. Tell that to flickr, or photo bucket users. You want to add a feature - give the user the right to organize photos in their PERSONAL galleries. I am not talking about locked pages but personal galleries. If this is not a possibility there should be a warning added to wet paint sites. Something like "WARNING All pictures posted to your albums become the sole property of WET PAINT. You will not have the right to remove personal photos." The fact I that should freely chose to cancel my membership and WET PAINT holds my photos for an indefinite period of time bothers me greatly. Again I assure you I am not a ranting user but a polite, well mannered user of the site.

Even though I don't have many pictures posted at this time, there are a lot of people on the WIKI that would like to clean up and delete some of their pictures. Please make this possible for those that would like to have it.

Bill,
I believe as you do that no one should exclusivly hold any pictures I have willing shared without my knowlege and written consent as to what restrictions of ownership apply. I hope WETPAINT is listening and will get on board as other like forums and platforms have done with this very issue. It's a win/win situation for all if they do. If not I'm afraid their longevity and usefullness will be in question.

I have repeatedly asked to have this feature available to members. I can see no earthly reason why WET PAINT would want to take possession our personal pictures without disclosing that personal family photos would become the property of the WIKI. Treasure Hunter: Kirsten Gum has grown to literally thousands of pictures.Whether I wish to remove my family photos is my decision . We on the WIKI have had this discussion numerous times. My wife has asked me to remove some poor quality pictures of our family and we are stuck with a photo posting site with no provision to delete the pictures. All my requests have been made in a courteous manner and I have confidence that I will be answered in a courteous manner.

Does anyone at WET PAINT have objections to people being able to remove their home pictures?

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Bill. It's very frustrating for me because I have images in albums that I have renamed with images that don't belong in the newly named album. These were images I uploaded when I first joined the wiki and was still learning how the wiki worked. It would make it a whole lot easier to organize our albums if we could delete photos. Frankly, I don't understand why they didn't have this feature in the first place. I definitely want a "DELETE" feature! So, I'm with you on this, Bill 100%!

Eric

I am an adult and should have the ability to delete my personal pictures and family photos. I thank you for your response . Frankly with 2300 members and a few moderators on the site they do not have time to organize everyone's photos. Please tell me the where I granted authority to WET PAINT to take possession of my pictures. Please direct me to where I gave up my ownership.
Thank you for you responce

I don't work with Wetpaint, so I think you should take that up with one of their moderators or admins.

I am in favor of this request. The pages I add to my photo albums or profile should be private and replaceable, or removable by me. Photos that are added to the site for pages that have required written permission requests to the owner by me are not the property of the wiki simply because the WIKI did not receive permission to post or own the photos. I feel that there should be notice to members regarding page creation stating that "By uploading photos for use on this page, they are now available for use by the WIKI, Wet Paint Central or it's subsidiaries".

I think you will find a great number of people that don't even realize that our personal profiles are viewable by ANYONE. I have no objection to the main site and general pages being open to the public, but only those that join should be able to view profiles or member created photo albums. Just my two cents!

I have to agree, if I want to delete a picture that I added, then I should be able to delete it! Whether it be poor quality or a pic I downloaded by mistake thinking it was a different one. I don't so much agree that only members should have the ability to view pictures because the pictures alone can be a good recruiting feature to encourage new members to join in on our fun but I don't believe others should be able to have access to USE / MOVE our pictures at will for any purpose without permission. I'm here to share my pictures not ownership.

Having the wiki 'kidnap' our photos is an odd business model. I've posted quite a few photos to this site, and like the others above, will post no more until this policy is changed. I am a member of several web communities, and must say that this wiki is the most frustrating to use. I don't understand why the Travel Channel uses such a poorly designed platform. For instance, when posting to this thread, the default identification icon is "anonymous". I'm quite happy to identify myself, and am logged in. Makes sense to have an anonymous option, but why make that the default? I thought 'get credit for your thread', might allow me to use my identity, but it takes me to a new screen to create an identity. I already have an identity, why waste my time to create a new one? Frustrating.

---Hey Rockandcandyguy and RockPuppy, you can use the same user name and log in that you do on the treasure hunter site, but you have to create a profile for WetPaint Central becasue it is considered a separate site. I just used the same info for Wetpaint Central and for other WIKI sites that I have viewed or taken part in, and now I have a list of sites available when I click on WetPaint Central at the top right of the page.---

Back to the matter at hand, I have read the terms and conditions of Wet Paint Central, and feel that this policy is antiquated. In this day and age of privacy concerns and identity theft, Wet Paint Central should be more considerate to it's members and allow them some control over what is viewable and not viewable by the general public.

Maybe there should be a privacy option when posting your profile, a page, or photos. "Do you want this page to be: 1) Public 2) Available to all members of XXXwiki 3) Private - viewable only by you and your friends.

This seems like a reasonable solution to this request and should be do-able.

Hopefully this will get to Wetpaint wiki. I will no longer add photos to this site until a feature is added that allows me to update, modify and remove my photos. I also asked some time ago about additng a feature to see my list of friends on page 2. Again nothing has been done.
