Going to effect Wetpaint?
Mar 31 2009, 5:44 PM EDT | Post edited: Mar 31 2009, 5:44 PM EDT
Hey, I'm very concerned about my Windows PC tomorrow, and about what is going to happen to Wetpaint. Just wondering, with this "Conficker C" bug effect Wetpaint?

Not too sure...I think with any virus, if you are careful of what files/e-mails you open, and if you have a good Internet Security program, then hopefully it shouldn't effect you as a Wetpaint User too much. Do you find this valuable?

Wetpaint has no Windows machines running in our server environment, so we'll be fine. Do you find this valuable?

So far, I have seen several members from the UK, who are already in 04/01/09, post things with no problem.

I am not sure if this is an international virus, but if it is then it doesn't seem to be affecting them very much.

Then you would have to wait anywhere between 0-4 hours to know.

I am not sure which timezone you are in; I am in Pacific time, so I still got a little over 4-hours.

It is a virus, and it will affect computers that aren't well protected. Just go on a local or nationwide news site and find things to stop it. Only those computers will be affected, so tomorrow, just be careful not to upload or download anything that you are unsure of, and be careful what you do on the internet. I suggest don't go around googling things and clicking on trashy websites that could hold Conficker C. Do you find this valuable?

O.O I have no idea...that's the problem. I keep forgetting. Alberta, Canada (that's as specific as I get). But I can't wait that long...

According to Jason, the servers will be unaffected; I think they are either Mac or Linux based, which means they won't be affected by a Windows Virus.

All that remains is whether or not your computer gets infected, otherwise you should have no problem.

Oh...I was Vista...

But if it does get infected, then there's no stopping it right?

(Sorry about all the questions...just worried)

If it gets infected, chances are a professional will have to fix it, it's not easy to fix yourself. Do you find this valuable?

Tomorrow is when the person sends the bug out with more updates and "instructions" on how to hack into computers. It has been going around for some time now, but tomorrow is when it gets worse.
Overall, I'd say be careful on the internet at all times, you never know what's out there.
I once clicked on a Google link and it brought me to a site that automatically started downloading something onto my computer, and I had to start Task Manager to stop it. Just goes to show you how dangerous it can be.
