Hi,

I started a site about a month ago and it has gotten a lot more attention than I anticipated. In less than a month I've had over 2,000 hits, which for me is really good. When I logged on today, though, there was a big banner ad for myspacetv. I've had a Wetpaint site previously and this never happened. Is this a new thing on all wetpaint sites or just mine?

It looks horrible and although I like wetpaint I might have to consider hosting my site somewhere else (regretfully). What's the story?

Currently Wetpaint has not announced this issue yet! In the past they did have an issue with a malware and the ad was at the top of the page. This time I believe that Wetpaint mey allow the ads to stay at the top, due to no complaints about malware yet... Do you find this valuable?

Well, I don't mind the google ads, they aren't too intrusive, but the banner ad is sort of obnoxious and ulike the google ads they do not blend in with the rest of the site. I see now that it is on all wetpaint sites. If this is some sort of trial to see if anyone complains may I (respectfully) complain. Sorry this is coming up as Anonymous. I'm Thomas from teambathplug.wetpaint.com Do you find this valuable?

I have checked your site and I have checked other Promoted Sites. It seems that all of the wikis that are paying for Removing of Ads are not having this banner with ads at the top of their wiki. wetpaint may have decided to add ads to the top of wikis unless you pay the amount of money they are requesting to remove ads. If this is true, then I am sure it will not be necessary to complain, we cannot expect too much when we are allowed wepspace for free. Do you find this valuable?

HI there, Thomas again. I agree about not really being able to complain - it is free. But if it stays and there is a free site without a banner I'd have to consider moving. I know my 2k hits is not amazon or anything, but I'd like to think it counted for something. Who knows, next month I might have 5K. Do you find this valuable?

I just have to say that I believe that Wetpaint does know about the advertisement, a Moderator from Wetpaint Central just locked a petition page where no one can sign it. I am warning all of you to think about what you are saying and doing! Do you find this valuable?

Thank you, but i agree with you for moving the page, maybe a good thing for Wetpaint is to develope a page where members can petition some of Wetpaint's actions, of course you won't give full permission to do anything to the members, but a suggestion page to take away things and petition them, instead of having to deal with all of this mess from time to time. Do you find this valuable?

Yes, we are experimenting with a variety of different ad placement options. Placing ads on Wetpaint site is what allows us to offer Wetpaint as a free service. Thomas again. I don't mind having ads - I think its a good deal. It is just that these particular banners are really offputting. If our sites are offputting that's not helping wetpaint in the long run. Do you find this valuable?

yes i just got that 2day... i find it VERY annoying and it clashes very badly with the rest of the site. plus it makes the page load a little slower. Do you find this valuable?

What's happened to Wetpaint. Have they had the bailiffs in? Sticking an inappropriate ad at the top of a site is OUTRAGEOUS. Times may be hard, but completely spoiling the look of a site for a few extra cents defies belief. I know you must have ads, but this header nonsense is a step too far. Do you find this valuable?
