this is because wet paint dose not allow any code other then object embedding. If you are looking to make a site just for a chat room then i would have to suggest to you that you look else ware for free hosting.

Wetpaint DOES allow chatrooms. Go to Widget when you are in EasyEdit and paste the code, then click save.

The one i use is really great. It's meebo or something like that.
