Outside links / URLs with spaces in them do not work

I have notice that when I add a link to a web page outside of WetPaint and the link has a space in it, either a real space or a "%20" that Wetpaint changes it to a "+".
However, links to pages within WetPaint that have spaces work.

Please note, that the change to the URL only occurs after I save the page, navigate away from that page and then come back. Then WetPaint has added the "+" and the link is bad.

It only seems to invalidate URLs that link outside of Wetpaint. For example take the 2 links below, create a wiki page, add both and then save, navigate away, and then return, and the first one works and the second doesn't:

How can I make WetPaint not change my URLs?

+ take the place of spaces. Most websites do not use real spaces in their URL, for there is a lot of coding done while making the website, and it is flat out confusing to most. I have been using the internet for, oh, my entire life, and I have not really cared about that.

If so, then why does this work:
http://www.arps.org/users/ms/coaches/backward%20design%20101.htm

and this doesn't
http://www.arps.org/users/ms/coaches/backward+design+101.htm

I'm using FF3 if you think that matters.

Just a guess, that URL is probably HTML. Even though most HTML uses +, that still could be the case.
Do you find this valuable?

Tons of webpages use spaces in URLs. Its bad design, but you can find millions of individual articles and documents out there that were put up with spaces (%20) in the filename. Municipal governments, for example, often have tons of documents in Word or PDF format that were generated internally (by city workers who likely have little experience with valid html or web deisgn), but then get uploaded to their municipal webpage "as is" b/c they are public record. If they were intially created with a space in their name, you cannot link to them from Wetpaint. Wetpaint automatically changes the "%20" to a "+", which is just stupid. The default changes make an assumption about what the user who posted the link intended the URL to be...a faulty assumption. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
