Verify site for Google bot

Google requests me to put a metatag in the header of the homepage. I assume you need access to html for that, Can I do this?
My wiki was in the first page at google searches for quite a while but now it disappeared and I cant find it anymore, at least not in the first 5 pages. Someone know why and what to do about it? Do you find this valuable?

You are correct, you will need HTML access for that and currently, Wetpaint doesn't allow users to modify HTML. Do you find this valuable?
