about copyright

I saw that some photos I have found on Photobucket and Imageshack have names of sites or of people written with small letters on them.
I was wondering if that means they're copyrighted. I haven't added any of those on my site, but I'm just curious.

No, not from both those sites. You can use those. Unless they have a copyright symbol, they are not illegal to put on your site.

That's absolutely wrong. ANYTHING in a fixed medium is automatically copyright protected, with or without a copyright symbol, copyright notice, name, date. If the copyright owner found you were using them, they would have the right to pull those pics from you or take any action necessary to get you to stop publishing them.

lol. I make wallpapers and I never copyright them.
And I sometimes sign on them with a nickname. But I let everyone use them.
That's why I was asking.
I was wondering if I was copyrighting my works by mistake. lol
