well, it depends how much you post and update your site, which is what the rankings are based on! my site that is 20 now, went from 255 to not on the charts in one week last year. so it really depends!

"My WP http://lionsaver.wetpaint.com has been listed 119 on Wetpaint 500, thank you for making my WP listed, but wonders what are the benefit and advantages for being listed on the Wetpaint 500, I believe not many know about it, can anyone share with me and the rest of the Wetpaint communities? "Wiki's on the Wetpaint 500 are more likely to be noticed. Remember that the Wetpaint 500 is entirely statistical, so if you see your site there it means you're doing a good job! Well, one of my sites has two edits and only one member. Yeah, I am number 1,505,998 out of 1,505,999. At least I am not last on the list....I am so happy.

There was a thought to make a series of pages with only links to all the sites that could be set up in a searchable list. Wetpaint has such a list for sites. I wanted my list to be in alphabetical order. I started copying page by page of Wetpaint's list. Sorting the lists as I went along. Well, here are some statistics that I found along the way. Assuming Wetpaint has 1,000,000 wikis. This number changes as Wetpaint grows and more wikis are created. This is Wetpaint as of Jul 31, 2009 The format used is the number of wetpaint pages needed to list the sites. e.g. Arts has 432 pages with 100 site names per page (pp) totalling 43200 sites in Arts alone. Arts 432 pages 100 pp 43200 Business 912 pages 100 pp 91200 Hobbies 404 pages 100 pp 40400 Lifestyles 353 pages 100 pp 35300 Music 962 pages 100 pp 96200 Technology 442 pages 100 pp 44200 ----------------------------------------------------------- 1000000 sites 350500 from the total sites above leaves 649500 entertainment, games, education (Entertainment, games and education do not have pages.) There wasn't enough time in my life, to be able to finish that Directory listing. So the project was abandoned. How's them for statistics? Do you find this valuable? |
