EasyEdit Won't Save
Dec 4 2008, 12:12 PM EST | Post edited: Dec 4 2008, 12:12 PM EST
The URL of the page where this happened is:
http://wcmcvote.wetpaint.com/page/Galliformes+TAG+Chair+Vote+Tracking+Page

It happened to one of my wiki members, so all I know for sure is that it was Windows, probably Internet Explorer.

Description: The person clicked "EasyEdit" and made his edits. Then he clicked "Save" and all it did was say "Saving..." for a long time and never actually saved. He let it go for 15 minutes and it still didn't finish and he finally had to cancel out and close his browser without his edits being made.

Any help in fixing this error, or explanation of why this occurred and what we can do to prevent it, would be very helpful

It impossible to say for sure, but if this was just a one time glitch my guess would be that it was a connectivity problem. Once in a while your browser will choke or an internet connection will stall. When something like this happens to me I usually will try to copy my work to Notepad or some other application so I don't lose it, close the browser, restart it, and then try again. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. I don't think that was it. Now two more of my wiki members have complained about exactly the same problem. I just tried to use the EasyEdit toolbar myself and all it did was say "Loading..." and never loaded. My internet connection is working fine. Down in the bottom lefthand corner it said "Error on page." What are some troubleshooting tips I can give my wiki members? 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Try exititing the easy edit toolbar and loading it again. That usually works for me. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

When this happens to me, I hit the little button with an x on it to stop saving. This will return you to the EasyEdit toolbar. From there, just click "Save" again and it should work faster. If it doesn't work the second time, copy your work to another application that supports the "stuff" you added and transfer back at a later time.

Hope This Helps!

Unfortunately, this does not work. All of my wiki members having this problem have tried clicking the X and Saving again...and again, and again. The only "stuff" they are adding is ONE WORD! They are changing "no response" to "yes" or "no." And it just will not save. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

If you, or your members are using Windows Vista, disable UAC. If you're using IE7 in combination with Vista, disable "Protected Mode" as well.

You also need to ensure that you haven't got any ad blocking software installed which blocks both Flash and Shockwave files. Flash files have an ".flv" extension, while Shockwave files are ".swf".

I prefer using Firefox to Windows Internet Explorer 7. IE has almost 9 times as many known bugs as Firefox. Do you find this valuable?

Unfortunately, I have no experience with the subject other than what I have told you. As for using different browsers, I use Chrome for viewing and doing thread related activities. As a matter of fact, I am on Chrome right now.

My only recomendations would be to simply use Firefox instead of IE 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
