Our Group Creator is no longer a member
Dec 3 2008, 2:26 PM EST
The group has decided that members who drop out should be denied access to our private group. All group members have Administrator level permissions; I have tried to change the former group member's permission level, but cannot find the link in his profile. Since he was the creator, do I have to ask him to ban himself?

He would have to cancel his own membership. Nobody can change the permissions of the Creator of a site.

Thanks, Jason. What happens to the group then? Can it function without a "creator"? It's a small mastermind group. We all have admin. privileges. Also, once he cancels his membership, can he get back in using the same username/ID?Thanks again for your speedy response. Phoebe |

If the site is private, nobody who cancels their membership can get back in without an invitation, even if they were the Creator. If the Creator cancels their membership and then is invited back in, they'll get the privileges that their invitation specified. Once a Creator cancels, they can never become the Creator again.Administrators have the same privileges as the Creator, so there's no loss of functionality. |

Wow! That was the best, most thorough - and timely - answer I have ever received from ANY online platform's resource person - EVER! You, my friend, deserve a big fat raise! To whom do I address the kudos? (Do you have a boss or are you the boss?) Seriously. To you, I'm sure it's all in a day's work. To me, someone who spends hours and hours and hours online at a time, it's very telling in how inadequate most Web-based services are. For example, I'm STILL waiting for an answer from Facebook; I submitted a question to them, oh, 2 months ago... My takeaway from this experience: As my company grows, I cannot forget to be responsive - and nimble! Well done! |

There's a Send Compliment link you can use if you click on my name. I'm not the boss, I just break stuff for a living ;-)

Done. But do the people who sign your paychecks see them? You are a pearl in a sea full of zebra mussels & should be acknowledged and compensated as such. ;-)Happy Holidays! Phoebe |
