How can I remove old members without banning them?

I want to remove lots of members from my wiki. I run a classroom wiki & many students are moving on. How can I remove them so they don't show up as members? I have tried banning them but they still appear as members. Do you find this valuable?

Banned users should not show on the Members report, unless you're specifically looking at the Banned Members section (which is only available to Moderators and above). Do you find this valuable?

You should probably try and have them cancel their memberships when the class is finished. Do you find this valuable?

If you ask them to cancel there membership, they will not show up on any report of the site. Banned members only show up in the Banner members tab of the members report. The banned members report can only be viewed by moderators and above. As Captain Spaz said, try to get them to cancel their accounts. Once this is completed, they will not show up on the member report.

No, banned members will also show up in your friends repot. So what I suggest is ask them to cancel their membership.
