Formatting problems when copy/paste from Word documents (line returns
Oct 22 2008, 8:57 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 22 2008, 8:57 PM EDT
Hi, my Wetpaint wiki is constantly changing my formatting without my permission and no matter how many times I change it back, it doesn't take it. For instance, lines are running together where there should have returns between them. How can I fix this? I use the wiki to manage a non-profit publication so copy/paste from word documents is very frequent for us. Please help! The formatting is making me nuts and I cannot write all my texts in tables as I'm afraid it might compromise future reorganization of the text. Thanks. 2  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Are other members of your Wiki experiencing this issue? Do you find this valuable?

Actually yes, there are other members having the same issue but not all. Could it be a result of the system used by the computer? Some of us are on Mac, some of us on PC. Have you heard about this before?

It could be an issue of differing screen sizes. You could be using a 13" Moniter, and one of your other members could be using a 24" Moniter. Usually, varying screen sizes will mess up the page. Try changing your resolution to the highest (if you are using a small monitor) or lowest (if you are using a large moniter) setting, and see if that changes anything. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. This has nothing to do with screen. Please advise, help to what can we do to copy/paste from a document word and keep our formats. As the original post of this site says the wetpaint editbox just disable any format from word except for the bold option, no paragraphing no bullets just one continuous text from start to finish. This is very important issue as we now have to re-edit everything we paste in wetpaint pages.

I found the answer: use Firefox. It seems that only Firefox is able to retain the format of a text when pasted from an external text editor. So use Firefox to edit content. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?
