Dig wetpaint, but have a few suggestions...
Sep 26 2008, 6:12 PM EDT
I posted this on the Fringe forum, and one of the mods suggested I repost it here...so here it is.

Firstly is it possible to disable the automatic 'watch thread' function, and leave it as something you have to tick rather than untick? I don't really want my email account filling up with notifications every time someone replies to a thread I've posted in.

Is there any way to add an edit feature so you can change your posts? Some of us get OCD about typos.

Similarly, a function that allows you to easily see which threads have been posted in since your last visit would be handy.

Finally, is there any UBBC capabaility? Loads of smileys are annoying, but the odd one can convey when someone is joking, and easy tags for bolding text, posting images etc would help discussions, I'm sure.

Oh, and you need to increase the maximum characters allowed in a post. People are going to want to talk about this show at length, and should be allowed to do that without breaking posts up into multiple parts.

Thanks for listening.

You can stop having mails whenever replies to you thread by clicking on the 'unwatch' button. Do you find this valuable?

The point this member is trying to make, and that I agree with, is that it should be an option to have the thread watched, not to have it unwatched. Do you find this valuable?

The threads are watched automatically when you post one ...!

"The threads are watched automatically when you post one ...!"
Exactly...they don't want them watched automatically.

But, this is a very good feature! I don't know why would anyone like to create a thread and make visits every day to see if anyone has replied or not. Instead, getting a notification mail makes it easier to keep an eye on all the thread ...!

I've got no problem the feature - I would just prefer it to be something you have to tick rather than untick. I don't know how much you post on message boards, but for those of us that can make literally thousands of post over a 3 month period (and will probably visit the boards every day as much for the community of friends as for any specific info), I don't need or want a reminder of every thread I post in. In some cases, a reminder is helpful, but I'd rather not have to remember to uncheck it every time I post.

Cap, thanks for your help in trying to explain this.
