Locating Name Servers?
Sep 9 2008, 2:07 PM EDT Hello, I currently have a domain name for another website I have, but I'm trying to switch this domain name over to my Wetpaint wiki. The tech support from my current site host has been trying to help me with changing the domain name over, but they're saying that I need to enter in the "name servers", and that I can get the "name server" information by contacting my new site's host (Wetpaint). I did ask if it was "bluebanshees.wetpaint.com", but that's when they replied that I need the name servers so I assume not. How exactly can I go about getting the "name server" information so I can change this over? If it helps any, my current domain registrar is Tucows, though I get it through Homestead (I purchased my domain through Homestead and they host my old website). 0 out of 1 found this valuable. RE: Locating Name Servers?
Sep 9 2008, 2:09 PM EDT Ack, I just noticed that there are various places for posts. I probably should have put this in "Ask & Answer". I didn't see that... Bah, wish I could edit and/or delete this. Or move it to the correct place. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Locating Name Servers?
Sep 9 2008, 2:15 PM EDT I went ahead and moved this thread to the Custom URLs page. Read through the guidelines here for how to apply a custom domain to a Wetpaint site. In order to apply a custom domain you have to be able to modify your DNS settings through your domain registrar. If they don't support that ability then you might have to go through a different registrar to do it. We recommend GoDaddy and Dotster because we've used them and know they work. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Locating Name Servers?
Sep 9 2008, 6:24 PM EDT Thanks. I've read through that a couple times before, I wasn't sure if that was what I needed. But now that I know a bit more, I'll contact Homestead again and see if there's a way I can do that through them. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
