Using Two Wiki's - one public/one private
Aug 8 2008, 11:58 AM EDT Our neighborhood wiki, CastleHillsCommunity.com has been VERY successful. We just took the whole site private due to concerns from neighbors who were airing their dirty laundry..I agree this is the right thing to do but some other things are happening such as people grumbling about the very limited information they get when they hit the main page now...we have very limited character count to explain about the privacy policy and what to do...What I would really like to do is have a much more informative and pretty front page that is public and everything else behind it private. I know we can't do this today BUT I had an idea and would love some input on it: 1. Why can't I create a 2nd wiki that will probably remain just one page, set it up exactly like I want and have one big link to the private wiki. I would want to move our custom URL to hit the new 'public' site but that should not be hard....what am I overlooking here....does this sound like a good idea to get a public AND a private side to this? Thanks! Robb Do you find this valuable? |
