Spam messages to my wetpaint inbox
Jul 8 2008, 8:45 PM EDT Today I received, to my surprise, a message from Princess Momodu of Siarra Leonian, apparently a new country somewhere on earth. Princess Momodu said she had found my email address on the internet and hoped she could trust me not to betray her like Robert Del Piero of Italy who apparently stole $8 million US that her father left her when he died. Now she needs help with getting 20 kilos of alluvial gold dust and 25 million dollars from an account in Dakar-Senegal and she's heard that Americans are really gullible and she wonders if I wouldn't just send her all my identifying information and a scan copy of my international passport or driving license. I have a private wiki on wetpaint and it would be great if Princess Momodu didn't have access to my account name because even though her message was entertaining, I suspect all the people worrking on my project will take it a little less seriously if they too receive a message with the subject line "Dearest One" from someone whose screen name is Baby Sandra. Seriously. Anyone who sets their wiki up as private should also have a private account name, not searchable or findable by people from Sierra Leonian or other countries, existant or non-existant. At least that should be an option. Do you find this valuable? |
