removing user account
Jun 24 2008, 4:13 AM EDT | Post edited: Jun 24 2008, 4:13 AM EDT
Hi, dianogah, admin from kds.wetpaint here

We've had an unfortunate incident where a user signed up and posted slanderous comments about certain people linked to the wiki. We were able to ban him and remove the edits he made, but unfortuantely his account still exists and in this case, it's the name of the user that is the slanderous comment. We've already had 12 complaints from fellow users about this, but at present we're powerless to do anything about it

Is there any way where the user's account can be removed completely?

Thanks in advance
D

User accounts cannot be deleted. If you have already banned the user from your wiki, why is there still a problem? 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I just began creating a wiki and didn't realize my user name would be listed on all the photos I am adding to my site. Is there a way to delete my account and start over using a different user name?

User accounts cannot be deleted. You can have as many accounts as you like though. Do you find this valuable?

The name of the user is a very offensive term

It relates to allegations of child abuse against by people featured on the website and I'd like it removed ASAP

I have the same issue on my site at good-tourism.com.

Many of the banned accounts, all created by the same individual attacking the same person, use the name of the person and the allegation of child abuse in the account username, such as "name-of -victim-PEDO" and variations of this.

The inability to purge the site of all records related to banned accounts, including new member listings, new thread listings, and other activity listings on the 'What's New' page, is a major bug in the Wetpaint software, which is otherwise a great product.

Because even after the user is banned, his or her libel and slander and offensiveness stay on the "What's New" page until new activity moves it off. Unfortunately the activities of this troll have scared away many bonafide contributors to The "Good Tourism" Wiki.

Thanks and regards,

I'd like an answer to this, too. It seems at least that administration should be able to ban the offending source IP(s) and change the offending user name(s) - so that their "placeholders" for contributions aren't removed, if that's the real issue with their inability to delete user accounts.

Just a thought. :-)
