What happens when one entry could fit in two categories?
May 15 2008, 4:30 AM EDT On my wiki www.thesourcecode.wetpaint.com, I am categorizing parapsychological research by category. Categories like: Consciousness, Mythology, Psi Phenomena, Life, Death, etc. My question is what happens when an entry fits in more than one category? What do I tell the users who ask me this? The best I've come up with is to add the appropriate tags. But of course this is not much help without a tag cloud for users to surf. What can I do? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 21 2008, 4:42 PM EDT Don't know. It probably hasn't been answered yet because Wetpaint hasn't seen it yet. If you want I could send them a message alerting them to this thread for you, if you want me to? I am a Moderator after all and I'm glad to do anything to help. Do you find this valuable? |

May 21 2008, 4:44 PM EDT If it fits into more than one category then pick the category most like your site. You can add as many different keyword tags as you like so its limitless amounts of tag clouds. http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Using+Keyword+Tags Do you find this valuable? |

RE: What happens when one entry could fit in two categories?
May 21 2008, 5:31 PM EDT But the tag cloud is only visible when you use the search engine. Highly un-intuitive. A new user has no intuitive means of "browsing" these wetpaint wikis. I mean either a user knows what they are looking for (great), or they are browsing/surfing, in which case they need an effective method of doing so. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: What happens when one entry could fit in two categories?
May 21 2008, 5:49 PM EDT You should add lots of links that go deep into your site. Take a look at http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/ and their homepage. This is a good example of what you should do to help new users! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ronan - Why not try "Search this Wiki" in the top-left corner of the page? It will reduce thread numbers and give you more detailed information! Do you find this valuable? |
