Account creation fails (with invite OR 3 steps) with no error message!
May 14 2008, 3:32 PM EDT Account creation is failing now for some reason, both on the www.wetpaint.com home page (the "3 easy steps" process) and on the "sign up for a new account" area via the "accept invitation" link: for two of the wikis I'm having my students join. (Most of them up to this point have been able to join at least one of the wikis successfully.) We're using IE7 on Windows XP computer lab machines. I sat next to my student and watched him try over 10 times to register; he filled out the user name (ChandlerMcLeod - it's available), password (tried 6 characters, longer, and longer plus three digits). All the other "required information" was completed. We tried this with an invite sent to his email address (duff_love22@hotmail) as well as starting fresh (the wetpaint home page) with that address and with his school address (smithcm2@ [our college]). When he entered a different password in the "confirm" box, he was brought back to the same page, but with the red warning text saying that the passwords didn't match. But when they did match, he was just returned to the same page, with the birthdate info. and "receive email" fields reset. NO explanation for the failure was given on the page; it just looped back. We have wetpaint.com in the trusted sites list, and we were able to login with my credentials. We also tried the cache-clearing workaround. No dice. When I logged in to the wiki, it still reported that he had not accepted the invitation. It seems that something's amiss server-side. Please help us ferrett out the bug, so he can sign up and get his group projects done. TIA! Best, Klint 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 14 2008, 7:46 PM EDT Hi Klint, Can you send me a link to your wiki? We had a release last night that caused a few problems with Account Creation. Our programmers just fixed the problem though, so it should be working correctly again. Try again and let me know what happens. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

May 15 2008, 1:31 AM EDT This afternoon, we seemed to be able to create accounts again. I'll let you know if we hit any other snags with account creation. Thanks for resolving that issue so quickly.
