Mass deletes
May 8 2008, 8:32 AM EDT
I've been using the wiki for a college class where students have created dozens (hundreds?) of threads, and dozens of personal pages. Semester is over and I want to delete EVERYTHING to prepare for next semester. Is there a way to delete everything instead of going into each page, each thread and delete there?

Unfortunately, no there is not a bulk delete option for removing threads or pages. Perhaps it would be easiest to just create a new site for each semester and then copy over only what you need.

"Unfortunately, no there is not a bulk delete option for removing threads or pages. Perhaps it would be easiest to just create a new site for each semester and then copy over only what you need."I'll be facing the same problem at the end of the year. I have been setting up specific "Blogging" pages for students to post threads to. My intention is that when I delete that page at the end of the year, the associated threads will disappear (at least from public view) too. I am using the same strategy for Student Generated pages. Creating a "Student Work" homepage (of sorts) under which students generate and post pages, threads etc separate from the content and activity pages I have created. Anyone at Wetpaint Central think my idea is going to work? If all else fails, I'll end up doing what is suggested, but that is going to be a lot of work! 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Okay, I think I just figured out the solution to our problem. I've saved my page as a template and then created a new page using that template. The page appears the same as the original, now, without all the comments. New start for a new school year. I've just begun playing but it looks like it should work.
