How can I delete the template off of my page?
Apr 28 2008, 2:23 PM EDT
Does anybody know how to delete the template off of the page? I chose to Artist/Band page because I'm working on a school project about an Author and found the template was unnecessary. I want to delete it but I don't know how. 2  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

To delete a page, navigate the pages you want to delete, click more tools, then delete page, on your homepage, click EasyEdit, press Ctrl + A and then hit backspace. All content should be deleted and it is the same as starting with no template. Do you find this valuable?

Deleting a page is different than deleting a template. I don't want to delete my page, I just want to delete a template I created, which is stored with other templates that I was given when I opened my wiki. And you're wrong, deleted material from a template doesn't remove the template itself it only leaves the template blank. The only way I see to delete templates is to delete my whole wiki and start over from scratch, which I don't want to do since I do have others who have joined since.

About the only thing I can suggest regarding the template is to delete the material off that template and start fresh with it. I don't see how it can be deleted, but it can be modified and/or the material on it can be deleted then replaced with new material.

I don't want to delete the template just apply a different template. Anyone have success with this?

Applying a new template is currently not possible. Lots of people want to do it but as I have said before you are going to have to delete the pages and content. To delete all the content on a page, click EasyEdit, press Ctrl + A, press backspace/delete and its gone. This deletes the template's content but does not change it to another template.

To delete a page click more tools (on the page you want to delete), then delete page. I am very sorry that the feature you want cannot be provided.

Ronan - Why not try "Search this Wiki" in the top-left corner of the page? It will reduce thread numbers and give you more detailed information!

When you create a site you have the option of applying a site template. Once you have applied a template you cannot switch over to a different template. When a site is created it is a blank slate. Selecting one of the site templates basically just tells Wetpaint to run a script that creates multiple pages and adds the page content.

If you don't want the template that you selected you can manually rename or edit the pages, but we have not yet built a feature that will change the template from one to another after the fact. This is something we plan on adding but it raises new issues like what happens to any of the template pages that you happened to add content to? Does it ignore these pages, delete them, or something else? It's not quite as simple as just adding pages to a brand new empty site.

You can unpublish the template so that it doesn't show up on the site. It then is stored with your other templates unused, but not deleted. If you've set up the site in a particular fashion at the very beginning then the only way to redo that is to delete that site and create a whole new one. Do you find this valuable?

Could you add these edit features soon please- it's getting really annoying, you can't see what you will have until it's too late. (& the templates don't always work so you really want to get rid of them, and entire pages, entirely... not just empty or hide them). 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
