Is a nice tutorial/lesson on web page layouts and using columns, frames, or tables that will grow or shrink as a viewer resizes his/her browser window or people view your pages with different screen resolutions.

Many of us who create web content are sort of "super users" who tend to have larger monitors and higher screen resolution. So it is easy for us to desing a page that looks great on our machine but not so great on the average smaller, lower resolution monitor. It is always a good idea to view your web site design on an average or less than average set-up when you are fist getting started, to see how it will look. It is sort of too late to change it after you have many hours invested.

I checked out the examples of liquid layout and fixed layout in the URL given above. Am I correct that Wetpaint's pages are a sort of liquid layout? Some of Paddock Paradise's viewers are forced to scroll to the right in order to see all of the page. Is this a user setting error? I understand that Wetpaint will be changing to a fixed 1024 pixel width for pages. Does this width include the navigation column on the left? Because when I changed some tables to 1024 width, those viewers still had to scroll to the right. They tell me that 850 is the right width for tables. I just want everyone to be able to see the whole page without having to scroll to the right, but I'm not a computer expert. Thanks! Do you find this valuable?

1024 is the ideal screen resolution to use when designing a page with wetpaint. The problem of having a horizontal scroll happens when the page is designed at a higher resolution and the designer fails to keep the content within the right hand border of the user content area Higher screen resolutions designers think the page is too small. . I have laid out explanations as to how to maintain a good page display without horizontal scroll bars for all resolutions on this page.

Screen resolutions should not make a difference if the page designer will keep the content within the content area borders.

Wetpaint has two fixed borders = Left and Top. The bottom and right are liquid and will expand with certain elements such as tables, images and widgets. Text by itself will follow the expansion of the right borders but alone will not expand the border itself.
