You may need to have a web portal set up for your server. In order for a link to function it needs to be a URL.

3. RE: Intranet Wiki linking files (i.e. URLs starting with "file://")

This is something I would also like to do. The standard URL for such a thing looks like this:file:///C:/MyFolder/important-file.doc or file://///My-LAN-Server/Documents/Silly/bad-jokes.pdf Those ARE correct URLs, but they will only work for someone who actually has the named files on their local system. Anyone clicking on such a link from a web browser from within the correct LAN will be able to access the files; everyone else will just get an error. Unfortunately, Wetpaint does not appear to support "file://" URLs currently, although other wikis do. Is it possible to add support for these items? If not, is it possible to provide a work-around by embedding some Javascript code? Thanks! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

There is a widget you can use, but it requires the files to be stored away from your intranet and onto the internet.Create an account with Docstoc http://www.docstoc.com/ Upload your ppt,pdf or doc files Grab embed code, it will ask standard or wetpaint select wetpaint and paste embed code in Docstoc widget tool on your wetpaint page. This is a must for displaying the file on your wiki page or when the file is larger than 2 mb or if you have more than 40 files total in which you want to have on your wiki, Wetpaint has a limitation of 2 mb file size and 40 attachments total. 1 out of 1 found this valuable.
