Search engines don't pick up my site
Mar 22 2008, 9:38 AM EDT I started a tribute site to deceased British jazz musician, Alan Cooper, called "Low country life Alan Cooper remembered". I would obviously like anyone searching for "Alan Cooper" to see my site listed. Google seems to pick up every other site on the net for Alan Cooper except mine! Anyone help? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Anyone help?"Well if you feel up to it you could build yourself a Google bomb and make sure you get the top result when searched for LOL but it is hard to do. Otherwise the search engine works by number of sites with the name, amount of traffic, and links to the site and from it to other sites. The best thing to do is spread the word on other sites forums and to get people to post links to your site and eventually it should rise on the list. That is my understanding of it at least. Good luck. : ) 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Mar 22 2008, 1:21 PM EDT Check out the promote area on your site. Make sure you are signed in and then click the 'promote' link on the right of the top navigation bar. It is full of tips and tricks (tools too) on how to improve your Google ranking. However, even if you do everything right, it does take some time for Google to 'find' you - crawling every site on the Internet takes some time. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Mar 22 2008, 6:35 PM EDT I looked at your site, it is very good and educational, remove those Google Ads on your site (for free!) and also I'll try my best to sponsor you to be on Google Search. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Search engines don't pick up my site
Mar 22 2008, 11:26 PM EDT I took a quick look. Here are some simple tips. 1. you have lots of content on your home page, try breaking it up into additional pages. search engines like more pages. though, make sure you link to your other pages from your home page 2. use 'alan cooper' in your page names. Think like a googler. If you were looking for an obituary on alan cooper you wouldn't google 'obituary' you would google 'alan cooper obituary' 3. click on your home page image and align it to the right so more content gets higher on the page 4. change your permission scheme and let other people contribute- trust me on this one. It has been huge for my wiki. http://www.jamesbondwiki.com 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
