There are lot's of ways. You can just tell your site name here and describe what's it about. You can invite your friends, tell them to invite their friends, and so on. Send messages to people you know and stuff like that.

Well.....hmm lets see.you can invite friends by email to join your wiki. there are also many advertising sites around wetpaint. like http://www.tweg.co.uk http://advertiseonwetpaint.wetpaint.com and others. another idea is exchanging links with other site creators.That have a wiki similar to yours. But for the best you gotta be patient. As was said, there are lots of ways. It helps to have connections with other site owners and friends online. Connections with site owners can help if their site is well known as well, you can ask him or her to put a link to your site on their home page, and there is the added bonus of maybe having them mention it wherever they chat. Thatz another good place, chatboxes, chatango specifically, but thatz just what I use because there is a lot of anime fans on there for my site, lol. Go to different boxes and post the url of your site, as well as encourage people to visit. You may have to come back from time to time to the same box, there may be people there who were'nt when you last visited. Another option is social networking sites, like myspace and facebook. I don't do myspace, but I do have Facebook, which has groups. Just find a group that is relevant to your site, where there are people there who would be interested, and do the same thing, post the url and encourage people to check it out. There is also the obvious path of inviting your friend thru e-mail and other means, and getting them to help, lol. Well thatz all I got, I hope it was simple, I know it was long winded anyway, lol. but the hard part is getting ppl to stay make sure you have a nice layout (design) for ur homepage. add widgets and keep it organized

For that, I'd advise to put least widgets and feature the most interesting articles of your wiki on your wiki-homepage, it worked for me at least ...! May be you could try putting the RSS of your "What's New" page on the homepage ...! Do you find this valuable? |
