Remove "Other Wikis" list?
Mar 6 2008, 11:40 AM EST
Our new wiki is for a government-sponsored community taskforce. We have no need for the "other wiki" links that accompany each page. Furthermore, some of the group members may object to some other topics and pictures that accompany those other wiki links. Is is possible to remove the "Other Wikis" area? 3 out of 6 found this valuable. I'm with you. I just created our corporate wiki and was about to 'seed' it. As soon as I saw the other wikis list, I knew that if I can't remove them then wetpaint connot be our wiki. Anybody out there to help?

You can't remove the area. No one has any need for those links it is just promoting other wiki websites. They aren't that bad and if you don't like them then just create a table and press enter for a while. You can't post threads but I assume you can just message everyone if it is a goverment thing and not a forum wiki.

They may not be that bad right now, but when we were working with it, there was a "Big Brother" wiki link with the busty chick in a hot tub. Not good for a group of women environmentalists. And...we WOULD have used the discussion thread for each page. 1 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Thats alright if you use the discussion forum. You have to learn to deal with those ads. HINT: A sneaky trick to avoid those kind of ads is to change your wiki type to Education. That way you still have ads but they are for education wikis. Not reccomended if you want people to find your site.

Hmm..interesting. I also got the attention of the folks that run this site. They said that they appreciated my input and will take that sort of thing into account as they work on enhancements.

Education wikis do not have any Big Brother Advertisements. If it is a goverment wiki would you want new members to join and support ideas? If not changing it to Education is the way to go.

They are even on the education pages and some are not appropriate for kids. Any way to hid or get rid of them

The "Other Sites" cross promotional links at the footer of the page are a fixed part of the Wetpaint interface so we don't have a method to turn them off for some sites while leaving them on for the rest. However, our development team is assessing what changes are necessary in order to allow this in the future.

I would REALLY appreciate any work that you can do to allow us to remove these. My site is a booster club site for a kids team. I find many of the other sites that show up offensive and do not belong on my site.
