We read and consider all the suggestions that our users make. Many do get made into new features. The ability to add a music player widget to your site is an example of a feature that was added due to user requests.

As for approving users that want to join, I think that's a cool idea. There is a similar feature currently in place if your site's permissions scheme is set so that it requires invite to edit. In this case, anyone can join, but only the users that you "approve" as writers can actually edit the site. Also, private sites only allow those that you invite to access the site, so that's another case where only those that you approve can join.

I do think this would be a great facility, even on public sites. I'm setting up a site for a girl guide company, and would love for it to be public but don't really want the whole world to be able to post comments. Is there any possibility of this being added?

PS - to all the people giving out about things here, it's great to be able to create such high quality sites so easily, and there are already lots of cool features that are not available on other similar sites. It wouldn't kill you to phrase your requests a bit more nicely.

As a teacher using the wiki with my students it becomes very cumbersome for me to collect emails & invite each of my students. It is much easier to have them join on their own. Unfortunately, either I have to invite or anyone can join. This means that kids could join with an unidentifiable user name and "have fun" on the wiki. If I have to approve their membership I know who they are (and don't have to take the time of inviting all of them). Do you find this valuable?

Thanks for such a super site-builder! I do have one concern.

Since those who join can still post on the message board, regardless of the edit permission status, we really need a way to approve of people before they join. The invite feature is not an option for those who want to remain a public site.
