TO DO tabs should show how many are there

It's disappointing to wait for a page load only to find that while there is a tab for TO DO lists, this list has nothing in it. This could be eliminated and lists with some entries would be extra inviting if the number of items in the list were shown in the tab itself. It follows from the notion that the system should not make me do more than is necessary to accomplish my goals. Jef Raskin suggests it as a fundamental user interface principle in his boook, "The Humane Interface". Do you find this valuable?
