Lost Content prevention
Feb 2 2008, 9:51 PM EST Wouldn't it be even more effective if the changes were just automatically saved? Those schooled in Raskin's "The Humane Interface" incline to ask, You mean if I don't hit this little button, you're going to take my carefully built text and just THROW IT AWAY?!! How mean is that? I know it's not usually done that way. Perhaps we could start to change that habit. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Lost Content prevention
Feb 2 2008, 10:56 PM EST The problem is that multiple people may be editing the same page at the same time. We have a merging system that kicks in at that time. Also, we need to know when someone is done editing. An actual call to our server has to be done, and that can't be done without a user action. Browsers aren't the usual application platform and we have to work within their rather crude interface constraints. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Lost Content prevention
Feb 4 2008, 2:13 AM EST You make sense, but I believe it could be done in a dozen ways which would save the content always. Let's argue about this until one of us convinces the other. I was offended when your system trashed my compliment to you. That was surely preventable. Do you find this valuable? |
