centering words in merged table cells won't save

what i did:
i have a table with the cells of one row merged. I edit the page, center that word, and save. Shows up fine. But if I go to another page and than back to the page where the table is on, I see that the centered text isn't centered any more, but is aligned to the left in that merged cell. I tried it several times, and it won't stay centered.
Bug?

I tried centering both ways:
highlighting the entire word which I want to have centered in the merged cell, or only put my cursor in the middle of the word before hitting the centering button in the edit toolbar. Same result: it works, it stays after a save, but don't go away and come back.....
