Offensive ads and offensive top wiki sites
Jan 8 2008, 6:52 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 8 2008, 6:52 PM EST
I am starting up a family oriented, Christian themed site. As such, I want to keep the wiki free from content that runs counter to the message I am sharing.

Unfortunately, I continue to run into problems with the google ads and the top wiki sites. For example, the top wiki sites I have a link to site that has a headline of "f*** your jesus, and race". The link is not a non-wiki site. In any event I can't have content like that popping up on my wiki. It is offensive to most people, and will certainly be offensive to my community.

Similar problem (though not as offensive) with the Google ads. Have no problems with the ads on the site. However, the specific ads are inappropriate. Having a live webcam chat link to go along with "sexy" singles is not appropriate for my viewers. Is there any way to apply filters to Google ads so that they will screen out certain words like "sex"?

You have just started this wiki. Putting more on what your site is about, can alter the ad headlines and links. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Can I take that to mean that there is no way to expressly prohibit that type of content from appearing? Just have to hope that it doesn't once more content is added? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Once more content is added and Google gets a better idea of what your site is about, you'll notice a distinct change in the advertisements that are shown on your site.

Where does that other link you mentioned show up?

"or you could pay 5bucks to get ads off"
That's what I am going to do. Was hoping for another solution but I shouldn't be such a cheapskate.

Thanks everyone for your responses!

The ad came up under Top Wetpaint Sites matching a search word. In this case the search word was Satan. I can understand why the sites came up - unfortunately, my site is about how bad Satan is. The recommended site has a slightly different take on the subject.
