why do you make it so hard to delete a wiki -- WTF!
Dec 10 2007, 1:27 AM EST
Why do you make it so hard to delete a wiki. What's the big deal?
Do you want to make it look like there are more people using wetpaint than there actually are.
Why not just put a "delete wiki" on admin page?
Please don't tell me that it's technically difficult to do so.

Why? Why? Why? It's really fricking annoying. It's so annoying
I'm not going to use your wiki site any more. thanks

Actually, it is somewhat difficult to completely delete a wiki. Every page, tag, page revision, thread, post, account, account page, compliment, message...the list goes on. It's not something that we have automated to the point where we can just put a button on a site. There's also so difficulty in that there are questions that are kind of hard to answer. Would that only extend to Creators or would Administrators be able to delete a site, too? What if we restrict it to the Creator, but the Creator cancels membership or just stops coming back?

Really, sending us a quick note isn't that hard and we're pretty fast to respond. I don't see why you think it's so hard.

Change the email address of your existing account to a non-existent address and unsubscribe it from all mailings. Then you can create a new account with your real email address. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Why don't you just make your site private. Ban all users. Cancel membership and forget about it. You only have to do the last thing. 4  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

why would you want to do that! U just want to change the NAME of your profile. If you made another profile, all your contributions on Brickiwiki would be gone!

To the anonymous poster whose obscene post I deleted:

If you were to use the search box in the top left, just above the Navigation, you might find the page:
http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Delete+a+Site

On that page are explicit instructions on how to delete your site. Follow them, and we'll delete your site. There's no need to swear in our forums.

In addition, it's not possible to tell who you are when you post anonymously.

I agree with the comments of this thread. It is so easy to start a wiki; and so difficult to delete one. Originally I thought this was the best place for my wiki, but have since decided this was not the best venue, so I wanted to delete it. If people knew going in how difficult it would be, I think more people would consider NOT doing it. Suggest you include this information at the beginning so people can be more discriminating. Thank you, Sue Raymond 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?
