Creating a Good Welcome Message
How does creating a good welcome message help? A good welcome message is the key to site activity. Your welcome message needs to make users feel welcome, and help them navigate and use the site. If you include all the right things, you can lead th

Where is my invite button?
Why can't I invite people to my private site anymore? I'm not allowed to have it public, as it's a game related site and people are only supposed to be able to use it if they ask me in-game...

Private Sites aren't Private
If I have to make a site public to invite people, that defeats the intent to be a private site. Why can't I simply add the people to the site from inside?

Invite others section??
Neither of these two options appear when I try to "invite" The box looks the same as your example about but there's no CAPTCHA that appears or the specify what these users can do section...
Specify what the user(s) can do on the site in the "These users can:" section Fill in the CAPTCHA so we know you are a real live human and not an evil spam computer.

Invites not being received
I've seen this mentioned in the Webpaint Central widget more than once so I thought I'd start a thread as it's obviously a problem which crops up regularly.
My site is public, and yet when I try to send invites they are not received by anyone. I've tested this by sending it to lots of different types of mail accounts - Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo etc.
The same thing seems to have happened to at least two other people, going on their messages above. What's the trick to getting this to work?
It's the only thing which lets down this otherwise really rather good wiki/community building site.

Cannot Add New Members
As of Feb 26th, 2010, the INVITE function is still not working. It does send out the invitation e-mail, but when new users click the ACCEPT INVITATION button they are brought to a page that say, "Contact the person who referred you to the site and request an invitation." So as an administrator I've been unable to add any new users to my page for several months now. If anyone has any ideas as to what I can do please contact me at the e-mail below. Thanks.

Invitations sent and accepted, but no new members
I have invited people to my site, and they have seen my invitations and accepted them. It has been a couple of days now, and they are still not showing up as new members. Is there a setting that I need to change from the default in order to see members or allow them access? Has anyone else run into this?

make it easier to add new members to private sites
we are having a lot of difficulties adding new members to our private site, we REALLY don't want to have it public to add members THEN go private again, cos then it defeats the purpose of being private in the first place. Our new members work across different timezones, so there is no way for moderators to know when they are likely to sign in, thereby limiting the window of the site being public.
Such a limitation doesn't make any sense to users who want to grow the community but in a structured, orderly fashion? Will the feature to add members without going public be available anytime soon?

Um.... O.O
I have safari and it has restricted me from logging in onto wetpaint. I am an administrator on http://warriorcatsheaven.wetpaint.com and I can't log on because of the new log in system. Firefox doesn't work on my computer either. Does that mean I can't be on the site anymore?

Changes to invite process?
I just invited new members and noted a change in the process... the popup window no longer looks like the one on this page... I did not have the opportunity to set their status as writer vs. moderator (I'm site administrator), and I no longer have the option to view the status of invitations (were they sent, were they accepted, etc.). What has happened? I really valued these features.

log-in/invite issues
1. I have sent an invite to a student who recieves it, but when she tries to accept, she is directed to a log-in page, rather than a page to set up her login/password. How can she get the account and get to my private site.
2. A student set up an account, did some work, and logged off. Now she can't get logged in and gets a message that the account doesn't exist. When she tries to recreate the account using the same login, she gets the message that the account name is already taken.

Entering a whole class
I am using Wet Paint as a teaching tool and will need to enter my entire class of 12 as members. Rather than do this individually, is there someone to enter them/invite as a group? Thanks

Invites are not being received!
I've read about 25 posts similar to mine but I have to ask. Why are my invites not being received? I have sent them out twice, and now my sent page is full of useless invitations. My wiki is for a community of corporate trainiers and I feel like a dope. I told them the invites would be out today and nothing is happening! Thoughts?

Hi, I've invited someone to join our site but when asked their date of birth by mistake they put in that they are 12. The site will not let them join and I can not remove their email address to let them start again. We have tried sending a new invitation but still she is not able to join the site. HELP!
